About Me
My name is Diego, I am forty-five years old, married, and have a background in economics.
I first got interested in genealogy ten years ago when my sister-in-law unexpectedly asked for my help on one of her projects. At first, I was hesitant because I thought it would be too demanding and had no idea what it really involved, but I eventually agreed. I thought I was just lending a hand, but it quickly turned into my passion.
Since then, I have successfully traced the genealogy of many families and uncovered their stories, journeys, and hardships. Above all, I rediscovered the story of my own ancestors and surname.
From that moment on, I adopted my motto: "Your past truly shapes your future." Anyone who doesn't know their family's history can't fully understand who they are—or, more importantly, who they can become after discovering it.
To help you better understand who I am… let's start with the present. I'm married and live in the province of Piacenza, in northern Italy. My wife is of Italian descent, born in Brazil, and her roots trace back to a small town in Salento. We used to live in Parma, but got married in the province of Mantua.
If that already sounds a bit complex, it gets even more involved. I also lived in Rome for a few years, but I was born and raised in a small town in Salento.
My parents, Rocco and Elena, to whom I owe everything, lived the immigrant experience. They married in Switzerland; my father was Italian and my mother Spanish.
So, imagine reconstructing my own story—just like the millions of possible stories of Italian emigrants around the world.
My passion drives me to search for all those documents that, at first glance, look identical to millions of others, but when viewed in the right context, allow us to reconstruct a family's genealogical horizon step by step.
Every research project is unique because of its history, but the common thread is always the connection to family, homeland, and the traditions that shape who we are. Our Roots.
